1 Dead, 2 Injured In Turnpike Accident
STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - One person was killed in an accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Somerset County Tuesday afternoon.
According to Pennsylvania Turnpike officials, the accident happened near mile marker 121 in Stonycreek Township.
A pickup truck rear-ended another pickup truck in the eastbound lanes. The victim, who suffered fatal injuries, was in the truck that caused the accident. The victim was ejected from the vehicle.
Two other people in the same truck as the fatal victim were injured. There is no word on their conditions at this time.
The accident was cleared by 2:30 p.m., but traffic was reportedly backed up for about 10 miles. Both eastbound lanes were reopened between Somerset and Bedford around 3:30 p.m.
The accident happened 50 miles east of Pittsburgh and about a mile from the Allegheny Tunnel.
