1 Dead, 2 Injured In Homewood Shooting
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – Police are investigating after one person was killed and two others were injured in Homewood Sunday night.
According to police, the shooting happened in the 7100-block of Monticello Street around 10:40 p.m.
"I'm getting frustrated. I'm getting sick of it," Leigh Stubblefield said.
Stubblefield has good reason to be too. Last night in front of the daycare she runs on Monticello Street, gunfire exploded.
Two cars were shot up and two men were injured - one critically.
In addition, Raynna Church was shot to death as she tried to drive away from the gunfire.
"It's just sad. I'm very sad right now. I'm sad for the girl that got killed. I hurt for her family because I have two young daughters," Stubblefield said.
Church was a mother and her posts on Facebook spoke of joy over family and the upcoming holiday season. Now, a funeral must be arranged.
As a high school student, 31-year-old Church tried to encourage teens to do the right thing.
In 1996, Church was featured on KDKA-TV's news feature "On a Positive Note."
The story was about peer educators - students who achieved 40 hours of training in order to teach other teens about the risks they face growing up.
"I've seen the high rate of teen pregnancy and I would like to do something to help," she told KDKA-TV back then.
So far, police have no motive or suspects in the deadly shooting.
"Bullets don't have a name on them," Stubblefield said.
That is what is so terrifying to Stubblefield and her daycare center clients.
"I have parents that didn't bring their children this morning because of what's going on. Just scared," Stubblefield said. "Just stop. We love y'all. Like the sign says, we love you all. Stop shooting, stop killing each other."
Pittsburgh Police are not revealing the identities of the other men who were injured at this time.
