1 Dead, 2 Injured In Fayette Co. Crash

GERMAN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - State police are investigating a fatal crash in Fayette County.

According to police, the accident happened on Route 166 in German Township around 1 a.m. Monday.

Police say 18-year-old Roxanne Wolfe, of McClellandtown, and another woman, left a party to pick up a friend, but they failed to make it back.

The 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee they were riding in was reportedly taken from a friend and they were on their way back to the party when the Jeep went off the road, struck an embankment and rolled over.

"I've been thinking about it ever since last night and I hardly slept at all," Dan Irwin, a witness, said. "It just keeps going through my mind."

Irwin and a friend were among the first to arrive at the crash scene. Speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.

"I know that all you could smell was alcohol," Irwin said.

Wolfe was transported to Uniontown Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Two other people sustained minor injuries. No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Charges in the crash could come in the next few days.
