1 Dead, 1 Injured After Deer Crashes Through Windshield
BRADY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed and another was injured in a Sunday evening accident in Butler County.
Carol Mitch, a registered nurse, lost her life in the car accident involving a deer.
Mitch and her husband were driving their daughter back to college when the accident happened along Route 8 near Duffy Road in Brady Township Sunday evening.
According to police, she was in the front passenger seat when a deer that had been hit by another vehicle went through the windshield of the car she was riding in.
On Monday, she was remembered by co-workers as a "special, caring person" who made her mark not only with the Visiting Nurses Association, but as a community volunteer as well.
"If you wanted someone to organize a heart walk, or a Toys for Tots drive, Carol would do it. Not only would she do it, but she would bring the whole family to help," Liz Powell, CEO of the Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania said.
Mitch worked for the organization 26 years and was a mother of four children.
"This is a rough day for all of us," said Powell.
