1 Arrested After Hitting 3 Pedestrians & Officer-Involved Shooting
SOUTH SIDE (KDKA) – A man has been arrested after striking several pedestrians with his vehicle on the South Side early Sunday morning.
According to police, the incident started on East Carson Street around 2:16 a.m.
Timothy D.L. Fullum allegedly hit a pedestrian in the 1500-block East Carson Street and then turned onto 16th Street. Witnesses followed the vehicle and called police.
Officers were already on 16th Street responding to another call. The suspect noticed the officers, backed up and hit two more pedestrians.
Fullum then made a left turn onto Roland Street where he encountered another officer. The officer attempted to get out of harm's way, but fired his weapon while fearing for his life.
That hit a passenger in Fullum's car, who is now in critical condition.
Fullum continued on down the road until he encountered traffic. At that time, officers approached the vehicle and took him and his two passengers into custody.
Police say lives were saved, and fear the incident could have been much worse.
Fullum is the same man who in 2003 was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of a classmate.
When he was 15-years-old, Fullum was convicted of stabbing a classmate as they were leaving Westinghouse High School.
Now Fullum is facing a list of charges including aggravated assault against a police officer, DUI, criminal attempted homicide against a police officer, recklessly endangering another person and possession of marijuana.
The other two people inside the car were interviewed and released.
One of the pedestrians was treated and released from a local hospital.
