1 Arrested After Hill District Police Chase Ends In Crash
HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) - Police arrested a 20-year-old man after a brief chase that ended when the suspect's car smashed into a tree.
According to police, the chase started in the 2500 block of Hallett Street in the Hill District around 7 p.m. Officers were initially called to the area for a report of men loading guns into a vehicle.
When they arrived, the vehicle took off. The chase lasted for about a half mile before the driver crashed into a tree near the intersection of Wylie Avenue and Arthur Street.
Three men inside the vehicle fled and one had a gun. All three were detained, but only the driver, 20-year-old Andre Hall, was arrested.
Police found a loaded gun in a jacket that Hall tossed when he got out of the vehicle.
As it turns out, the car and gun were stolen. Police also said someone was trying to remove the serial number from the gun.
Hall is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
