Your favorite characters "Simpsonized"
Brussels based illustrator Adrian Noterdaem has seemingly mastered the art of turning just about anything into a Simpsons character.
What started as a fun project - a hobby on the side - has grown into a gallery of hundreds of drawings.
We wanted to know the story behind this "Simpsonized" project so we asked Noterdaem a few questions.

Q: How did you get started illustrating Simpsons-like cartoons?
A: "I started first just by Simpsonizing myself for MSN-avatars, etc. And then some of my friends asked me for their Simpsonized-faces, and it soon became an addiction for me."

A: "The “Game of Thrones” series was a huge success. I loved doing it, and the buzz around it was incredible. I received so many requests I had to do a second series."

Frank Underwood | "House of Cards"
Q: How do you get your ideas?
A: "I don't know, I usually watch a TV show or a movie, and then I want to do it. Now, I try to focus and when I want to do a series, I try to do the main cast. Or I also try to stick to the news when it's possible. But I always keep pop culture in mind."

Q: How long does each illustration usually take?
A: "It depends, but one character can be done in 30 minutes if I find the details to be recognizable."

Han Solo | "Star Wars"
Q: Has Matt Groening or any other Simpsons illustrator contacted you about your work?
A: "Not directly. But I'm open for a Duff beer anytime with those guys. I did speak to Bill Morrison (co-founder of Bongo Comics with Matt Groening), it was nice, but I was at the very beginning of this Simpsonized project, I didn't know exactly where I'd go with this. I didn't know that this project would last more than two weeks."

Michael Jordan
Q: Did it take you a while to perfect the style?
A: "At first I thought it was simple, a little bit of yellow, a few lines, and that's it. No, in fact it's quite difficult to do a real Simpsonized character, as it would appear in the TV show. So, when I look back at the first one I posted, I immediately see the flaws."

Q: Have you made any money from these drawings or do you just do this for fun?
A: "I started this project only for fun. As I said, I never thought it would last more than two weeks. Now, though, I sometimes take paid requests and I sell some of my illustrations online."

Q: Is "The Simpsons" your favorite animated cartoon?
A: "I don't know if it's my favorite, but I certainly love “The Simpsons.” It's difficult to say why, it's been so many years that I’ve watched this show. I also love “Futurama,” “SpongeBob,” “Dexter's Laboratory,” just to name a few others.
