Women's March, in Washington and around the world
Women with pink hats and signs begin to gather early for the Women’s March on Washington, on the first full day of Donald Trump’s presidency, Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. City officials said more than 500,000 gathered for the event, with millions more participating in hundreds of other protests in the U.S. and around the world.

The Women’s March in Washington, which was initiated by a group of Facebook friends, soon spread to become a global march calling on all concerned citizens to stand up for equality, diversity and inclusion, and for women’s rights to be recognized as human rights. Global marches were held on the same day, across seven continents, including Antarctica.
