Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
In this week's "Game of Thrones," words flew faster than adolescent dragons, and landed hotter than the breath they use to cook humans for dinner.
And in Season 5, Episode 5, many of these killer quotes were either spoken by or to Jon Snow.
Here, the new Commander of the Knight's Watch defends his decision to ally his men with the wildlings. Because if anybody knows how to prepare for winter, it's a guy with the last name "Snow."
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Here, Maester Aemon -- the wise old man of the Wall -- serves up what is arguably the best quote of the season, thus far.
Providing us yet another reason to be #TeamTargaryen, he advises Jon Snow to grow up and just make the hard decisions already.
Someone had to say it.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
In this cringeworthy scene, resident sicko, Ramsay Bolton, masquerades the Artist Formerly Known as Theon Greyjoy, in front of his bride-to-be.
"Reek," you'll remember, is responsible for the deaths of many of Sansa Stark's relatives.
Here, he's forced to apologize... and, you know, look her in the eyes while he does it. AWKWARD.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
This week, in honor of Mother's Day, we saw a lot of the dragons and their mother.
And while many believe Daenerys should give up on her fiery sons, she refuses to do that because she's a good mother.
So, sure she keeps them chained up in a dungeon, but she also feeds them humans for dinner. Awwww, isn't a mother's love beautiful?
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
In "Kill the Boy," Jon Snow struggles to create an alliance between the men of the Knight's Watch and the wildlings.
And he doesn't want them to follow him, so it just might happen.
Because, you know, that winter can be a strong motivator.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
In the aftermath of last week's Sons of Harpy attack on the streets of Mereen, Daenerys is furious.
She arrests the heads of Mereen's leading families to teach them a lesson, then feeds one of them to her dragons.
Yes, yes and more YES. Let the dragons decide.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Daenerys is no stranger to pithy, hard-hitting quotes, and this one is no exception.
Well, she might not have anyone left to rule if she punished everyone who was guilty, but it'd definitely make for good TV.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Poor Tyrion.
He just wants wine; but this week, he got a big bottle of Stone Men instead.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Here, Maester Aemon spits a little wisdom at Jon Snow about his new post.
Commanders often have to make tough calls, even if doing so makes them unpopular with their own men.
DEAL WITH IT, SNOW.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
As Tyrion points out here, Jorah Mormont is generally a pretty stone cold guy.
Well, buckle up 'cause he's about to get a little more "stone" than cold in the weeks to come.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Did you know Maester Aemon of the Knight's Watch is Daenerys Targaryen's last living relative?
Guess pithy bits of wisdom run in the blood.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
First of all, WHY would you want to be Ramsay Bolton's wife?
Second, WHY would you want to be Ramsay Bolton's wife?
He's a disgusting human being. And in addition to his propensity for inflicting pain, he apparently also tortures people who make him bored. Not exactly good qualities in a life partner.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
This week, no matter what Jon Snow said, Tormund had a rebuttal about his inability to do so in chains.
Guess the wildling second-in-command doesn't love being locked up.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
It turns out Grey Worm miraculously survived last week's Sons of Harpy attack that claimed the life of Ser Barristan. Hooray!
So, it looks like the Mother of Dragons isn't alone, after all.
What's more, it seems Grey Worm's close call apparently gave him the courage to make a move on Missandei... a romance the show has been teasing for weeks. The guy may be unsullied, but that doesn't mean he can't kiss a girl.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Well, it's not exactly romantic, but this is the way Daenerys Targaryn proposed marriage to Hizdahr this week.
Guess they're a little short on hot air balloons and dancing flash mobs in Mereen.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Maybe Ramsay is so messed up because he has a whole host of deep-seated daddy issues.
Eh, whatever. It doesn't make us like him any more.
Wisdom of Thrones: "Kill the Boy"
Tyrion may have just survived a near death incident in which Stone Men dragged him deep into the sea, but he's still got a snarky comment ready the moment he regains consciousness.
