Who's who in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray

Michael Jackson's physician, Conrad Murray, was accused of manslaughter in the pop superstar's death. He pleaded not guilty in January.

Michael Jackson is called the "King of Pop" for a reason: His 1982 album "Thriller" is the best-selling album of all time. Michael was the seventh child in the Jackson family. Michael died on June 25, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home.

Propofol

One of the central "characters" in the Michael Jackson drama is not a person, but the drug propofol. Yet-to-be-released toxicology reports could help determine if the powerful anesthetic had a role in the singer's death. Propofol, which is marketed as Diprovan, is typically administered in a hospital during surgery, but Dr. Conrad Murray told police he often gave the drug to Jackson to help him sleep.

The Defense

Edward Chernoff, the attorney for Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, has been a constant media mouthpiece in defense of Murray. Chernoff has said that Murray "didn't prescribe or administer anything that should have killed Michael Jackson."

The Prosecution

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said the clips of Michael Jackson performing "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Earth Song" in his concert movie "This Is It" depict an "active, energetic" man who was interacting with the crew and participating in the production process. Walgren say this would contradict defense claims that Jackson took his own life. Walgren is one of several prosecutors working on this case.
