A protester carrying a grudge and an apparent foam pie rushed Rupert Murdoch as he gave testimony to British lawmakers in parliament on July 19, 2011, striking the media baron in the face, causing a scuffle and temporarily suspending the hearing.

In another famous incident, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates was hit in the face by a fresh cream tarts hurled by infamous pie thrower Noel Godin, as the computer mogul arrived in Brussels for a reception on April 2, 1998.
Singer and anti-gay activist Anita Bryant was hit in the face by a pie during a news conference in 1977 (you can see video of it here). Bryant quipped, "Well, at least it's a fruit pie" and began to pray to God to forgive activist, before bursting into tears as the cameras kept rolling.
"Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson, seen here during the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on June 5, 2011, was splattered with a pie in Toronto, Canada, in late June 2011, according to pictures published by British newspaper The Sun. The incident came while the actor was shooting scenes for his new movie.
David Letterman, seen here during the Comedy Awards on March 26, 2011, sparked a pie-throwing melee with actress Emma Thompson when she appeared on the "Late Show" in 2006. Thompson was promoting her film "Nanny McPhee," in which her character throws a pie at another character. Letterman produced a cream pie and challenged her to throw it at his face. She did, which set off a chain reaction of pie-throwing involving bandleader Paul Shaffer, the show's announcer and a cue card holder, ending with Thompson getting one herself.
Emma Thompson attends the Harper's Bazaar Women of The Year Awards on Nov. 1, 2010, in London. During her 2006 appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" (in which she and Letterman threw pies at one another), the host asked her what it was like in her film "Nanny McPhee" to throw a pie at another character. She responded, according to WENN, "Proudest moment of my acting career, really. I didn't know that pie-throwing was so cathartic. It's heaven throwing pies. But they have to have weight to them - heavy cream."
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, seen here during the American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers on Oct. 16, 2010, in Arlington, Texas, was hit with a whipped cream pie by teammate A.J. Burnett on May 16, 2009, after he hit a two-run homer during a game against the Minnesota Twins. The pie-throwing became a tradition - New York magazine's sports blog estimated that Burnett threw 10 pies at his teammates that season, including Johnny Damon, Robinson Canoe, Hideki Matsui and Nick Swisher.
King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden, seen here with Queen Silvia on July 16, 2011, in Vienna, Austria, was hit in the face with a pie in 2001. According to BBC News, a 16-year-old boy hit the Swedish monarch with a strawberry tart while he was visiting a bird sanctuary near the city of Varberg, Sweden.
Sylvester Stallone arrives at the premiere of the HBO documentary "His Way" on March 22, 2011, in Hollywood, Calif. The actor was hit in the face by a pie by the Canadian satirical political group Entartistes in 1998, while opening a Planet Hollywood in Montreal.
Designer Calvin Klein attends the 13th Annual 2009 ACE Awards on Nov. 2, 2009, in New York. In 2001, Klein was hit - by accident - by tofu cream pies hurled by fur protesters who were aiming for designer Karl Lagerfeld. The incident happened while they two were walking the red carpet for the 20th-annual American Fashion Awards, held at New York's Lincoln Center.

In 2004, the conservative author was speaking at the University of Arizona when two men ran up on stage and threw pies at her (both of them missed). Coulter made light of the situation, according to the Arizona Daily Wildcat, joking, "From that far away they can't even hit me?"

In 2003, Nader was hit in the face by a pie while giving a speech in San Francisco endorsing Green Party candidate Peter Camejo's run for governor in the California's recall election. The prankster reportedly fled out a side door and was not apprehended.
