On April 29, 2008, after three full days of deliberations, the jury foreman passed the judge this final note indicating: "No verdict can be reached for guilty or not guilty." For the second time, there was a hung jury in Mike Golub's murder trial, and Chad and Shannon Floyd walked free. All charges were later dropped, and prosecutors have decided not to retry the Floyds unless new evidence surfaces.
