What am I seeing?
Some images just seem to need more explanation than others.
In our weekly series, we share images from the news that piqued our curiosity and raised questions.
Camouflaging himself from hunters?
Rutting season
Young stag deer clash antlers during the annual rut in Richmond Park in west London, Britain, October 16, 2015. The Royal Park has had Red and Fallow deer present since 1529, and early autumn sees the rutting or breeding season begin amongst the herd of over six hundred animals. Bucks engage in fierce mating battles during the annual rut.
In the previous photo, a stag deer covers his antlers with bracken in Richmond Park. The bucks will thrash the ground so vegetation in their antlers make them look larger, according to Discover Wildlife magazine.
What am I seeing?
Human planting season... of course.
Protest over the disappeared
Demonstrators sit with mock graves of the disappeared during a protest on October 16, 2015 against the Colombian army's Operation Orion, a 2002 military operation in Medellin's Comuna 13 neighborhood.
The operation against paramilitary groups and militias killed at least 650 victims and left at least 92 missing, or disappeared.

This one we'd put on a forklift for sure.
What am I seeing?
This would definitely make us do a double-take if we saw this couple while walking down a street.
Magician's street performance
Magician Lei Xin (C) is suspended outside a double-decker bus, next to a woman in a wedding gown, as they participate in a street performance in Zhengzhou, China, October 15, 2015. According to local media, the performance, organized by Lei and his friends, aimed to promote a healthier view of love and marriage among young people.
Not really sure how this promotes a healthier view. Don't you wish the photographer provided that explanation? Don't you wish you knew how Lei Xin suspended himself outside the bus?

The cow looks scarier than the soldiers. Hard to know who is being attacked here.
Joint military exercises
A cow runs past U.S. and Philippine marines as they take positions during assault exercises in joint drills aimed at enhancing cooperation between the allies at a Philippine Naval base San Antonio, Zambales, October 9, 2015.
In the previous photo, Philippine marines and a U.S. soldier look at a cow approaching their flank as they take positions. Let's hope no animals were harmed in the "making of" these military exercises.

Ouch! Not something to try at home. Hard to look at actually.
Vegetarian festival
A devotee of the Chinese Samkong Shrine walks with knives pierced through his cheeks during a procession celebrating the annual vegetarian festival in Phuket, Thailand, October 16, 2015.
The festival, featuring face-piercing, spirit mediums and strict vegetarianism celebrates the local Chinese community's belief that abstinence from meat and various stimulants during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar will help them obtain good health and peace of mind.
Extra points if you can make a connection between putting sharp objects through your face and obtaining "good health and peace of mind."

Dead whale shark
Indonesians gather around the carcass of a dead whale shark, caught by fishermen in the sea off of Surabaya, on the East Java island on October 12, 2015. Fishermen originally planned to cut up the giant fish measuring seven meters and weighing two tons and sell its meat but authorities from local fishery agencies arrived and negotiated with villagers to bury the whale shark.
In 2013, Indonesia declared whale sharks a protected species, including it in the International Union for Conservation of Natures Red List of threatened species. Despite their mammoth size, these docile sharks, the largest fish in the sea, are filter feeders and are harmless to humans.
