Wacky criminals, wild crimes

San Diego police say surveillance tape at a 7-Eleven in Rancho Penasquitos, Calif. shows a person dressed like the popular cartoon character Gumby telling a clerk he's being robbed, then fumbling inside the costume as if to pull a gun, dropping 27 cents and leaving. Jacob Kiss, 19, and Jason Giramma, 20, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor burglary in November 2011 and both were sentenced to three years of probation.

Batman on the loose

Mark Williams was arrested in May 2011 after being spotted atop a building while wearing a Batman costume and sentenced to six months of probation in September. In addition, a judge told the 32-year-old Williams he's not allowed to wear costumes - including the Batman one he was wearing when Petoskey police picked him up.

The force was with him

A man wearing a Darth Vader mask robbed a Long Island bank on July 22, 2010. The Star Wars villain displayed a gun and then verbally demanded cash from the teller, reports CBS affiliate WGCL. Surveillance cameras noticed that the man was wearing a blue cape and camouflage pants in addition to the distinctive helmet. The Dark Lord got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Mad cow disease?

Michelle Allen, 32, of Cincinnati, Ohio was arrested wearing a cow suit in October 2008 after allegedly chasing children, urinating on porches, and blocking traffic, reports CBS affiliate WKRC. Authorities said she smelled of alcohol, slurred her speech, and was belligerent when they found her. Allen was charged with disorderly conduct.

Don't "moss" with him

Gregory Liasco of Portland, 36, earned the "Moss Man" moniker after police say he was found in full-body camouflage last October outside the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals, where he'd cut a hole in an outer wall and was trying to break in. Officers found a bike and a backpack, but they didn't find the suspect until a police dog bit what appeared to be the ground. It was Liasco in the camouflage outfit, looking like a mound of moss. Liasco later said the whole thing was a mix-up, and the outfit was a Halloween costume his kids had given him. In October, he failed to show up for his trial, and authorities say a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Naked lunch

Aaron Aceves, 26, was arrested after he ran, naked, into a Subway sandwich shop in November 2011. Aceves' streaking stint was captured on surveillance video and showed that he spent only a few seconds in the restaurant. He swiped at one of the people waiting in line and then calmly walked out the door. Police say Aceves then ran across the street to a supermarket. This is where he was apprehended by authorities using pepper spray to restrain him.

Bikini break-in

Authorities arrested Robert Brenneman for allegedly breaking into a day care clad in a pink girl's swimsuit. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials say that Brenneman claimed he owned the bikini and had changed into it after unlawfully entering the day care. The bikini enthusiast faces charges of criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement. He was also found to be violating his parole, which will add to charges. He pleaded guilty in December to criminal trespass and was sentenced to time already served and released.

The Joke's on him

Spencer Taylor, 20, was arrested in July 2008 at and Indiana movie theater after he went to see "The Dark Knight". CBS affiliate WSBT reports that Taylor, dressed as the "Joker" character, complete with makeup, tried to steal posters and memorabilia related to the film. He was arrested and charged with felony larceny and malicious destruction of property.

Drive-in disaster

A Florida woman crashed her van through the front doors of a gas station convenience store on Nov. 2, 2011 and, apparently unfazed, got right out to ask the clerk for a pack of cigarettes. Broward County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman says Tamara Aponte hit the gas instead of the breaks on her minivan, sending her over the curb and into the store. A surveillance camera at the Weston, Fla. location captured video of a red van around 4:30 a.m., just before the crash.

Wedding night woes

Tammy Lee Hinton was arrested for identity fraud on her wedding day July 16, while still wearing her gown and veil.Three days later, police arrested Hinton again when she missed a court date, and she spent the next four months in jail before being released.

The "Geezer" bandit

Authorities say the robber branded "The Geezer Bandit" because he appeared to be old, but now think he might be a young man wearing a mask. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said Friday the man was seen sprinting across a parking lot after his most recent holdup this month.

Croc-crook

A thieving saltwater crocodile named Elvis charged at an Australian reptile-park worker and stole his lawn mower, later lounging with it underwater in his lagoon enclosure.Elvis has a rather extensive reptile rap sheet: When the croc was initially captured in the northern Australian city of Darwin, he was attacking local fishing boats. Later on, when he was moved to a crocodile farm, he killed both of his reptilian girlfriends. The lawnmower was eventually recovered.

Remourseful robber

Surveillance cameras captured images of a thief first stealing and then returning two days later gifts from the porch of a Staten Island home. The thief reportedly left a note that said, "this is all I took. I'm so sorry and Happy New Year. I just want to do right for this New Year."

Amish-on-Amish crime

Seven Amish men who are part of a breakaway group led by Samuel Miller are charged with conspiracy to commit hate crimes. Authorities say they forcibly cut the beards and hair of Amish men and women and took photos in four separate attacks on three dates between September to November of 2011. The Amish community believes the Bible instructs women to grow hair long and men to stop shaving after they marry. Hell-house of cats

A family of five adults has been charged with exposing two children to severely unsanitary conditions by living in a urine and feces-filled home with 110 cats. The district attorney's office said Wednesday that felony charges have been filed against Sharon Howe, 65, John Howe, 68, their daughter, son-in-law and adult granddaughter. Prosecutors say the adults and two children, 6 and 12, lived in a Santa Ana home filled with urine, feces, cat hair, flies, and roaches.
