Victims of the Texas birthday party shooting

Arielle Shepherd, left, and Queric Richardson, both 17-year-old students at Morton Ranch High School, were killed on November 9 when people attending a birthday party opened fire into the crowd after a single celebratory shot was fired.

Richardson was dead at the scene and Shepherd died after being taken to an area hospital.

Lorenza Shepherd, the mother of victim Arielle Shepherd, is mourning the daughter she called her "best friend."

Randy Stewart, 18, is charged with aggravated assault in the mass shooting that killed both Richardson and Shephard. The gunfire also injured 18 other people.

Harris County authorities said Willie Young, 21, was among the more than 100 people who attended the birthday party in Cypress. But the charge against him was dropped after police interviews with partygoers contradicted earlier witnesses who claimed they saw Young fire a weapon.
