Freddie Gray solidarity protests
Protesters marched against police violence in cities from New York to Boston as troops stood by in Baltimore to enforce a curfew imposed after civil unrest over the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, a black man who died after sustaining a spinal cord injury in police custody in Baltimore. At least 60 people were arrested in New York.

Freddie Gray, 25, was arrested for possessing a switch blade knife April 12 outside the Gilmor Houses housing project on Baltimore's west side. According to his attorney, Gray died a week later in the hospital from a severe spinal cord injury he received while in police custody.
