Coup attempt in Turkey

On Friday, a group within Turkey's military staged an attempted coup on the country's government. A state of martial law has been announced over the country, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on his supporters to take to the streets. Military jets were seen flying over the capital and vehicles blocked two major bridges in Istanbul.

Erdoğan calls in
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called in to the privately owned CNN Turk news channel to discuss the attempted military coup. He urged Turkish citizens to take to the streets and protest against the coup.
