Top 30 movies not out on Blu-ray
Warner Bros. has announced that "Ben Hur" will make its debut on Blu-ray on September 27 as the "Ben-Hur 50th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition." If you're wondering why the math doesn't add up on that 50th anniversary, the restoration process, which cost $1 million, took longer than expected and the 2009 release for the actual 50th was missed. Warner Bros. says the the frame-by-frame restoration from an 8k scan of the original 65mm camera negative was the highest-resolution restoration ever completed by the studio. OK, so the shark might look a little fake in HD on the closeups, but "Jaws" will still be a must-have Blu-ray when it comes out.

The theatrical release of the "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" came out on Blu-ray several month ago, but the extended versions are what true fans of the series crave. They get it on June 28.
Some people prefer "Lost Highway," but we're pining for "Mulholland Drive," which made an appearance on HD-DVD.

We couldn't decide between "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," which would also look good on Blu-ray. But we went with "Rushmore" because it's our favorite Wes Anderson movie.

The DVD of "Shakespeare in Love" had reference-quality video. The movie was also pretty great (it did win Best Picture). Where's the Blu-ray?

Looks like the Blu-ray for 'West Side Story' will be released in the UK on October 17. No word yet on a U.S. release date, but hopefully we'll see it this year.
