Toking teens: 17 top states for marijuana use
How popular is pot? Among American teens, pretty popular. According to a nationwide survey conducted in 2009, 7 percent of eighth-graders reported using marijuana, along with 16 percent of tenth-graders and 21 percent of twelfth-graders. In addition to getting high, these pubescent potheads are heightening their risk for car accidents, respiratory problems, and possibly addiction.

The Empire State kicks off the list of states where lots of teens are toking, with 20.9 percent of high schoolers reporting having smoked marijuana in the previous month.
