Here comes the sun! "Sunday Morning" sun art
For 20 years "Sunday Morning" associate director Jessica Frank has been handpicking every shining example of sun artwork to appear on our program – about 9,000 and counting.
The suns that close out each of our stories mostly come from our loyal viewers, who share their luminous creativity with us.

It's a tradition that started decades ago, when the first unsolicited suns showed up in the "Sunday Morning" mailbox.

Jessica Frank uses some suns as soon as she gets them; others she saves for a rainy day.
"I'll have a sun for four years or five years and I don't have a place for it," said Frank. "And then I'll watch the piece and say, 'Oh, thank goodness, I finally can use the whatever sun,' and I get so excited."

Jessica Frank has gotten suns made from every material under the sun – painted, sculpted or fabricated. She's gotten suns that were hubcaps, or crafted from every material under the sun: Figs, vegetables, pieces of broken glass, seashells, chili peppers, duct tape, Lego bricks, even scrunched-up Post-it notes.
