Talking with Steve Earle and Allison Moorer in our New York studio, discussing the perils of addiction. Earle turned his life around after a prison stint in the 1990s and has been sober for the last 13 years.

Earle gets ready for his performance of "City of Immigrants," a tribute to the diverse nature of new York City, his adopted hometown.

Earle and his wife, singer-songwriter Allison Moorer, take some last minute instruction from Early Show music producer Cathy Black.

Allison Moorer chimes in on the final chorus of "City of Immigrants." The couple's voices sound so gorgeous together. I love the way Allison looks at her husband so tenderly.

Steve tells me that at one point he even considered moving out of the country, but found a home in New York City. He wishes the acceptance and diversity of the Big Apple were mirrored in other parts of the country.
