Berkeley artists Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello have created the art installation "SOL Grotto" by using an estimated 1,400 of the 24 million unused specialized glass tubes to be used in tubular solar panels made by now bankrupt solar power firm Solyndra. The installation is part of a larger exhibit at the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden called "Natural Discourse" that runs through January 2013.
