The Ryder Cup will be played in Scotland for the second time when the Gleneagles resort marks its 90th anniversary by hosting the biennial event, from September 26-28.
Gleneagles was named the best golf resort in the world for the third year running at the 2014 ULTRA awards, and follows Muirfield in 1973 as the only Scottish venues to play host to the Ryder Cup since the tournament began in 1927.

The Bundestag's NSA investigative commission met later in the day to hear the testimony of two BND employees over the German's use of the NSA's X-Keyscore surveillance software. The Bundestag launched its NSA investigation commission after revelations last year that the NSA had eavesdropped on the mobile phone communications of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other leading German politicians over a number of years.

Regional governments have now started to process the tires in order to clear the area. Most of the material will be recycled for building materials, surfacing for roads, sports tracks and children's playgrounds.

Kharatokin, a watchman of a mooring, lives in a wooden hovel near the river. Under the permission of his employer, Kharatokin adopted the orphan bear that was found this spring. He plans to continue living with the bear, who will be moved to a new, larger enclosure after it is constructed.

Heavy rain in the Philippine capital caused flooding in many areas on Friday, shutting schools, government offices and financial markets, as a tropical storm made landfall to the north. Thousands of residents in low-lying areas were moved to higher ground, officials said, as flood waters rose quickly after the equivalent of half a month's usual rain fell in six hours.
