Pyongyang - American student detained

Warmbier was detained for trying to steal a propaganda banner from his Pyongyang hotel and confessed to "severe crimes" against the state, according to the the North Korea's official media. Warmbier, 21, was detained before boarding his flight to China over the incident.

Ecuadorean authorities raised the alert level from yellow to orange, after an increase of the Tungurahua volcano activity, which spewed a column of ash five kilometers (three miles) high.
Medal of Honor

Byers was honored for his courageous actions while serving as part of a SEAL Team 6 operation that rescued an American doctor, Dilip Joseph, being held hostage in Afghanistan on December 8-9, 2012. Byers was credited with saving the lives of several fellow SEALs and threw himself on Joseph to protect him from heavy gunfire.
Turkey - Syrian smugglers sentenced

A Turkish court on Friday sentenced the two Syrian smugglers to four years and two months each in prison over the death of 3-year-old Syrian boy Aylan Kurdi and four other people, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. The image of the boy's lifeless body lying face down on a Turkish beach galvanized world attention on the refugee crisis, graphically illustrating the magnitude of the migrants' suffering.

Ronald Williams Hamilton is being held without bond in the Prince William County Adult Detention Center on charges that include murder of a law enforcement officer. He is accused of shooting and killing Guindon after she and other officers answered a domestic violence call at the Hamilton home Feb. 27.

Survivors exposed themselves to high levels of radiation five years ago while searching for family members swept away by the tsunami that triggered meltdowns at Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant. The disaster in killed nearly 16,000 people along Japan's northeastern coast and left more than 2,500 missing. Family members continue to look for the bodies of their missing loved ones, when access to the area is permitted, hoping for closure.

Arabian Oryx Sanctuary
