Bosnia and Herzegovina

Abandoned and left to crumble into oblivion, most of the 1984 Winter Olympic venues in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo have been reduced to rubble by neglect as much as the 1990s conflict that tore apart the former Yugoslavia. The bobsled and luge track at Mount Trebevic, the Mount Igman ski jumping course and accompanying infrastructure are now decomposing into obscurity. The bobsled and luge track, which was also used for World Cup competitions after the Olympics, became a Bosnian-Serb artillery stronghold during the war and is nowadays a target of frequent vandalism.

The city has completed a program of covering its open-air reservoirs with floating, 4-inch diameter "shade balls" to protect water quality by blocking sunlight from penetrating the 175-acre surface of the reservoir, preventing chemical reactions that can cause algae blooms and other problems

This elderly Costa Rican man reportedly born at the turn of the 20th century could be the world's oldest, but his lack of documentation and testimony from family and friends could see his alleged 115-year-old out of the record books. Luis Bolanos, Director General at Costa Rica's Civil Registry said official records back up the oldest-man-in-the-world claim.
Mediterranean Sea

"Comfort women" is the Japanese euphemism for women who were forced into prostitution and sexually abused at Japanese military brothels before and during World War Two. Xiantu is the only surviving "comfort woman" of the 16 plaintiffs in Shanxi who sued the Japanese government in 1995 for abducting girls and using them as "comfort women" during World War Two. According to information from China's Commission of Inquiry into the Facts of Comfort Women being Victims, which is based on her own statement during the commission's research, Xiantu was abducted by Japanese soldiers aged 16 and was forced to serve as a "comfort woman" for over 20 days during World War Two.
China
The camera rolls as actors dressed as historical Chinese soldiers act as though they have been hit by artillery, during filming of "The Last Prince" television series on location near Hengdian World Studios. Mass battle scenes that involve special effects and more than a hundred actors and crew are often shot in one take. This makes it possible for the well-organized team to satisfy the huge appetite for productions about the war against Japan. Director Li Xiaoqiang said the series is about a Qing Dynasty prince, who joined the Chinese nationalist army after suffering family misfortune.

Cement Creek, which was flooded with millions of gallons of mining wastewater, is stained oragne on August 11, 2015 in Silverton, Colorado. The Environmental Protection Agency accidentally released approximately three million gallons of wastewater into the creek from the Gold King mine, polluting the larger Animas River downstream.
