The couple, who'd been dating about eight months when the got engaged, called off the wedding in September 2005.

Hilton talks to late-night talk show host David Letterman when she visits CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," April 28, 2005, in New York. The hotel heiress had her own press agent by the time she was 12, and was soon seen out on the New York club scene, often with her younger sister, Nicky. After high school, she took acting lessons and started modeling.

It wasn't the first time her private life went public. A video released in 2003 showed Hilton being intimate with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
