Seven years into the marriage, things began to fall apart. Gary Triano was gambling heavily and his business ventures were failing. He was millions of dollars in debt.

After moving to Aspen, Pam Phillips met Ron Young at a barbeque. He lived across the street from Pam and became her trusted business advisor.

On Nov. 1, 1996, after an afternoon of playing golf in Tucson, Gary Triano returned to his car.

Who Killed Gary Triano?
At the time of his death, Gary Triano was millions of dollars in debt. Those he owed included a Las Vegas casino, various attorneys, and a group of Mexican investors who people said were involved in criminal activity.

Police began the investigation into Gary Triano's murder and followed up on scores of leads. Still, the case went cold.
ATF Recreates Bomb
In 2005, there was movement in the case.The ATF reviewed the case files in the car bombing and were able to reconstruct the type of bomb they believed killed Gary Triano. During the same year, Ron Young was arrested on charges unrelated to the Triano murder.
Ron Young Arrested
Authorities eventually made the link between Pam Phillips and small-time criminal, Ronald Young. Pam and Ron became suspects and both were eventually arrested.
Pam Phillips on Trial
Authorities believed Pam Phillips' motive was to collect on a $2 million dollar life insurance policy and that she paid Ron Young $400,000 to commit the murder.
Pam Phillips and Ron Young are tried separately.
Star Witness
Laura Chapman, pictured, was the star witness for the prosecution in Phillips' trial. She testified that Pam once talked about hiring someone to kill Gary Triano.
Ron Young's Verdict
In March 2010, Ron Young was found guilty of first-degree murder.
A Jury Decides
In April 2014, a jury found Pamela Phillips guilty of first -degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
She was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.
