Tatum O'Neal was 10 when she won a best supporting actress award playing a wise-cracking kid opposite her real life dad, Ryan O'Neal, in 1973's "Paper Moon." She's the youngest actress to receive the award.

Abigail Breslin

Ten-year-old Abigail Breslin is nominated this year for a best supporting actress Academy Award for her role as Olive in "Little Miss Sunshine." She is the fourth youngest nominee behind Tatum O'Neal, Mary Badham of 1962's "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Quinn Cummings of 1977's "The Goodbye Girl."

Shirley Temple

The dimpled little tap dancer who made depression-era Americans stand up and cheer was the first recipient of the special juvenile performer Academy Award in 1935.

Jodie Foster

Jodie Foster was already a popular child actress when she was nominated for her role as a teenage prostitute named Iris in the 1976 film "Taxi Driver." She didn't win that year, but went on to win best actress awards for "The Accused" and "The Silence of the Lambs."

Justin Henry

In 1980 at age 8, Justin Henry became the youngest actor ever nominated for an Oscar. He was up for best supporting actor for "Kramer vs. Kramer" but lost to veteran actor Melvyn Douglas.

Haley Joel Osment

In 2000 at age 11, Haley Joel Osment, shown in a scene from the best picture-nominated film "The Sixth Sense," was nominated for best supporting actor for his role as a boy possessed by supernatural visions and paranormal powers.

Jackie Cooper

The 1931 family drama "Skippy" starred Jackie Cooper, who at the age of 9 received an Academy Award nomination in the best actor category. Cooper, now 84, went on to have a decades-long career as an actor and director.

Jack Wild

Jack Wild played The Artful Dodger in the 1968 musical "Oliver!" The 16-year-old received a supporting actor nomination for his part in the film, which won an award for best picture.

Linda Blair

Linda Blair, left, was nominated for best supporting actress for her role as a possessed little girl in 1973's "The Exorcist." She lost to 10-year-old Tatum O'Neal.
