Oscar fashion: best and worst
Sharing his picks for the best and worst looks from the 2011 Oscars, Felix Mercado, of Say It With Style and Shutupandwearit.com, ranked best actress nominee Michelle Williams at the top of his hit list with her platinum form fitting gown by Chanel.
Anne Hathaway (Best)
Mercado also gave actress and show host Anne Hathaway, who wore strapless scarlet red gown by Valentino, a top honors. "Her look is exactly what the Oscars are about," he said. "Hollywood glamour at its best!"
Halle Berry (Best)
Actress Halle Berry, in a sparkly nude Marchesa gown, was listed high on Mercado's list. "I love how she kept the accessories simple so your eye was able to focus on her beauty and the dress."
Mandy Moore (Best)
Singer and actress Mandy Moore scored stylish points with this embellished Monique Lhuillier gown.
Penelope Cruz (Best)
Actress and new mom Penelope Cruz also stood out for Mercado with her sparkly curve-hugging red L'Wren Scott gown.
Marisa Tomei (Worst)
For Mercado, the primping and preening did not pay off for actress Marisa Tomei, who wore a 1950 couture gown by Charles James from Lily et Cie and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. "The dress made no sense, the straps were too wide, the neckline was too high and the tulle accent was entirely too big," he said. "Not flattering at all!"
Jennifer Hudson (Worst)
Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson's style choices also fell flat for Mercado. "The tomato red and purple shoes did nothing for her complexion," he said of her Versace gown.
Nicole Kidman (Worst)
Also ranked low was Nicole Kidman. The best actress nominee's structured Dior frock had "way too much going on."
Helena Bonham Carter (Worst)
"The King's Speech" actress Helena Bonham Carter stood out with her corseted black velvet gown by costume designer Colleen Atwood. She completed her look with black pumps and curly up-do.
