Occupy protests: Month 7
Occupy groups around the country have participated in "Spring Training" demonstrations in advance of planned May 1 rallies and a general strike.

CBS Station WCCO reports that on Saturday, April 7, Occupy Minnesota protesters sought to "re-occupy" Nicollet Mall, but were met by police officers who arrested 12 people. Charges of excessive force were raised, as seen in a YouTube video in which one police officer pushing the camera of a photojournalist from KSTP to the ground. Cameraman Chad Nelson sustained whiplash, and the camera slight damage, the station said.Police say they were doing their job to keep the streets free of obstruction, as ordered by the Mayor's Office. The Minneapolis Police Department released a statement saying: "We are reviewing and have an open investigation. The MPD will not support unjustified usage of force."
The following day, group of Occupiers returned to the site. "We need to find a place where we can express ourselves and not have to fear police violence," protester Osha Karow told WCCO.
While Police Chief Tim Dolan said he believes none of the protesters was abused, he did call an officer's actions slapping a camera out of the hands of a photojournalist "indefensible." But to counteract charges of police brutality, the MPD released their own video of the Occupation on YouTube, showing marchers ignoring police orders to clear streets. "We just wanted to make sure that [the public] saw the whole picture."
