Norwegians unite in terror aftermath

People hold flowers and signs reading "Utoya" and "Oslove," as thousands massed outside Oslo's City Hall on July 25, 2011 for a flower-carrying vigil in memory of the 76 victims of last week's twin terror attacks. Norwegian television showed images of similar gatherings taking place in other cities across the country after a call for people to come and show solidarity with those killed in the July 22 bombing and mass shootings.

More than 200,000 - many carrying white or red roses - were estimated to have taken part in the gathering in Oslo.

Central Oslo streets were closed to traffic because of the vigil, which had originally been planned as a "flower march" but it was decided that people should stay in one place because of the large numbers turning up.
