Nick Nolte
The actor was born on Feb. 8 1941, in Omaha, Neb. He launched his career at the age of 35 with the 1976 TV mini-series "Rich Man, Poor Man." He soon hit the big screen in various films, including "Who'll Stop the Rain" in 1978 and "Heart Beat" in 1980.
Nolte achieved his first major box office success in 1982 playing opposite Eddie Murphy in "48 Hours."
Nolte briefly attended Arizona State University, where he played college football. He left school and moved to Los Angeles to study acting at the Pasadena Playhouse and Stella Adler's Academy.
The actor has struggled with drug and alcohol abuse on and off through the years. The 2002 arrest prompted Nolte to return to rehab and revitalize his career.
Nolte's other films have included "The Golden Bowl" (2000),"The Good Thief" (2002), "Hotel Rwanda" (2004) and "Off the Black" (2006).
Nolte has been married three times -- first to Sheila Page from 1966 to 1970, then to Sharyn Haddad from 1978 to 1983 and finally to Rebecca Linger from 1984 to 1994.
