NFL tight-end Aaron Hernandez

Aaron Hernandez, of the New England Patriots, was taken into custody June 26, 2013 by police in North Attleborough, Mass. The 23-year-old player is charged with murder in the death of Odin Lloyd, who played for the semi-pro Boston Bandits. Lloyd was found slain June 17, 2013, roughly a mile away from Hernandez's home.

Relatives of the 27-year-old Lloyd say he was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee and that the two men were friends.

The Patriots drafted Hernandez, who is originally from Bristol, Conn., out of the University of Florida in 2010. In the summer of 2012, the team gave him a five-year contract worth $40 million.
