New York Giants star arrested for DWI
NFL player and New York Giants offensive lineman David Diehl was arrested in connection with a suspected DWI, according to police. The 31-year-old allegedly drove a BMW into four parked cars in Astoria after watching a soccer game at a bar, police said. Diehl stayed at the scene of the accident and there were no injuries. The New York Post reported that Diehl, a member of both of the Giants' recent Super Bowl-winning teams, was celebrating while watching a soccer match a few blocks away from the scene of the accident. Diehl, whose relatives hail from Croatia, was watching Croatia defeat Ireland 3-1 in the European Championships. According to authorities, Diehl was taken to the 114th precinct where he failed a breathalyzer test.
Since being drafted in 2003, Diehl won the Wellington Mara NFL Man of the Year Award on May 22 at the annual Boys Hope Girls Hope Dinner at The Pierre hotel. Diehl is seen here posing with the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the Giants defeated the Patriots by a score of 21-17 in Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 5, 2012 in Indianapolis.
