Never before seen photos of Bush administration during 9/11
On July 24, 2015, the National Archives released more than 350 never-before-seen photos of the Bush administration taken the day of the 9/11 attacks.
The photos, taken by Vice President Dick Cheney's staff photographer, were released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request made by the Kirk Documentary Group. The group covered the Bush administration in several PBS FRONTLINE documentaries, including "Bush's War" and "Cheney's Law."
Here, President George Bush speaks with Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and other senior staff in the President's Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) beneath the White House, a secure bunker.

The request for the photos was officially made by Colette Neiroux Hanna, the coordinating producer for the Kirk Documentary Group. She told the Boston Globe, "From the first moments after the attacks on the World Trade Center, Vice President Cheney has been at the center of much of the government's response. Now, 14 years later, we finally have those photographs and the American people can see for themselves what took place in those first 24 hours."
