Missing Children: Where are They?

In July 2002 law enforcers conducted a welfare check on Logan Tucker, 6, and discovered that he was missing in Woodward, Okla., reports CBS affiliate KOTV. His mother, Katherine Rutan, was the last known person to see the boy alive. In 2007, Rutan was convicted of first degree murder for the presumed death of her son, even though his body has never been found.

Aarone Thompson

KCNC/National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Aarone Thompson has been missing since 2005. Her father, Aaron Thompson, reported his daughter missing in November of that year to Denver police. According to CBS affiliate KCNC, he has been charged with child abuse resulting in death and was sentenced to 114 years in prison. Aarone's mother, Lynette Thompson, told the affiliate that she wants to find her daughter.

Abigail Estrada

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Abigail Estrada was last seen leaving her apartment in Harlingen, Texas with her boyfriend in June 2007. Abigail never returned home and her boyfriend, Ruben Torres, became the prime suspect. He was charged with capital murder but the charges have since been dropped, according to CBS affiliate KGBT. She was 14-years-old at the time. Harlingen police said the case is still active, and all information can be reported to the crime stoppers line at (956) 425-TIPS.

Adji Desir

Adji Desir, 7, was last seen playing outside his grandmother's house in Immokalee, Fla. on January 10, 2009, according to Naples News. No one has seen or heard from the boy since. The family is not giving up hope, but authorities have yet to uncover any strong leads in the case.

Amanda Berry

Amanda Berry was a day away from turning 17 when she disappeared in 2003. Amanda was last seen in Cleveland on the night of April 21 wearing a Burger King uniform and apron, according to CBS affiliate WOIO. She was 5-feet-1-inch tall, and weighed 110 pounds when she went missing. Police continue to search for leads and ask the public to call 1-800-THE-LOST with any information.

Avery Blakeley

Avery Blakeley, 2, was reported missing in August 2009. He disappeared outside while his family was moving out of their mobile home near Malden, Wash., according to CBS affiliate KREM. Police called off the search and presumed the toddler dead after finding his shoe in a nearby creek a month later. However, Avery's body has never been found.

Authorities have reason to believe the two could be in California.

Everlyse Cabrera

According to Everlyse Cabrera's foster parents, the 2-year-old used a stool to open the front door of her Las Vegas home in the middle of the night, reported CBS affiliate KLAS. Everlyse went missing in June 2006 and has not been seen since. Her biological parents have established an educational fund in her memory to help other foster children. According to CBS affiliate KPHO, baby Gabriel was last seen with his mother, Elizabeth Johnson, who violated her custody agreement by leaving town with the baby. She was arrested a few days later in Florida after stating she had killed baby Gabriel. Johnson later claimed to have made the story up and told authorities she gave her baby to a couple in San Antonio. Johnson is expected back in court in August 2010 and the baby's whereabouts are still unknown.

Giovanni Gonzalez-Colon, now 7, has been missing since August 2008. The boy from Lynn, Mass. was last seen by his mother when she dropped him off at his father's apartment. The father, Ernesto Gonzalez, Jr., has pleaded not guilty to charges of parental kidnapping and misleading police in the disappearance, according to CBS affiliate WSHM. In an interview from jail Gonzalez claimed to have stabbed his son and dismembered him; however, police have no evidence to back up the claim.

A year later, police feel confident that the case is a homicide, according to CBS affiliate WFOR. The Putnam County Sheriff's office in Florida also believes that the 6-year-old-girl was not abducted by a stranger and is most likely dead.

Patrick Alford

Patrick Alford, 7, of Brooklyn, N.Y. went missing on January 22, 2010 after he ran away from his foster home. Although the boy's mother is no longer considered a suspect in the case, some of the child welfare case workers still believe she is involved, according to CBS affiliate WCBS. Patrick was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
