Make-A-Wish recipient Zachary meets Hellboy

Six-year-old Zachary's dream was to meet Hellboy, a comic character created by Mike Mignola and made popular through several feature films. Thanks to Make-A-Wish, Spectral Motion and actor Ron Perlman, his dream became reality. "The best part for all of us is to see the look on their faces when Zachary was sitting next to Hellboy on the couch," Mike Elizalde, co-founder of Spectral Motion, told HealthPop. "Every time I look at that picture, I get a little emotional because of his body language. Everything about that says, 'I'm loving this. This is my wish fulfilled.'"

Spectral Motion was nominated for an Academy Award for their special makeup effects work on "Hellboy 2", and have worked on films like "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Fantastic Four." They specialize in cinematic creature effects, special makeup effects, animatronics and action props.

Zachary wanted to meet Hellboy, who is portrayed by Ron Perlman in the movies, and to be made up to look just like him. The whole wish event was a surprise for Zachary, who has leukemia.

Make-A-Wish contacted special effects company Spectral Motion, who has worked with them on three different wishes to date. They set up the meeting between the actor and the 6-year-old boy.

Zachary, who is identified by his first name for privacy reasons, gets made up to look like Hellboy.

The makeup process took 30 minutes on Zachary. Spectral Motion made the process as short as possible in order to help make the process less tedious. Ron Perlman spends about three hours to get suited up in Hellboy makeup.

Zachary's parents told Make-A-Wish that he had watched "Hellboy" over 100 times while in the hospital.

They didn't have time to custom make the headpiece for Zachary, but it didn't make a difference. "We prepared something on a lifecast," Elizadle explained. "We had a child mold, but it turned out to be a little too big on him, but he didn
