Disruptive London Tube strike
A 24-hour strike hit London's well-known subway system, the London Underground, called the Tube, leaving millions of commuters with a chaotic morning trip on Thursday, July 9, 2015.
The strike, which is over pay and work schedules due to take effect when some of the Tube's lines begin 24-hour service later in the year, started Wednesday evening, July 8.
The new "Night Tube" service is scheduled to start operation in September. Current service begins around 5:30 a.m. and the system shuts down between midnight and 1 a.m.
