Lindsay Lohan charged with theft

Lindsay Lohan arrives for a preliminary hearing at Los Angeles Superior Court in Los Angeles, April 22, 2011. The actress was in court for a hearing on a felony grand theft charge involving a necklace reported stolen by an upscale jewelry store.

In May, Lohan pleaded no contest to the charge, which had been reduced to a misdemeanor. She was sentenced to 480 hours of community service and 120 days in jail. The actress was also ordered to undergo psychological counseling and complete a shoplifters alternative course.

Lohan turned herself in to authorities on May 26, 2011, and was deemed eligible for house arrest. She will likely serve a reduced sentence due to jail overcrowding and budget restraints.
