The following June, Liza won the Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway musical "Flora, the Red Menace." By March 27, 1973, Liza was going to the Oscars with fiance Desi Arnaz Jr. and her father, Vincente Minnelli. That year, she won the Academy Award for her lead performance in "Cabaret."
But the following year, on Sept. 15, 1974, Liza married producer Jack Haley Jr. at El Montecito Presbyterian Church in Montecito, Calif. Haley's father played the Tinman in the movie classic "The Wizard of Oz," which starred Minnelli's mother.

In 1987, Liza stepped in when Dean Martin dropped out of the "Rat Pack Reunion" tour with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. Among other venues, Liza and Sinatra sang together at the Brendan Byrne Arena (later renamed the Continental Airlines Arena) in East Rutherford, N.J.
It was back to Broadway for Liza in 1997 when she took the place of Julie Andrews for one month (January) in the musical "Victor Victoria." Andrews said she was taking the time off for a good rest.
