Katrina - 5 Years Later - Mississippi

It's not unusual to see brand new rebuilt homes near the beach at Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Or not...

It's also not unusual for vacant lots to sit where homes used to be...awaiting new owners...or for their old owners to rebuild.

Many people have opted not to rebuild here even after five years have passed.

500 homes were lost to Katrina here. This overgrown lot was one of them.
