Israelis prepare for Passover
Jews are forbidden to eat leavened foods during the Passover holiday that celebrates the biblical story of the Israelites' escape from slavery and exodus from Egypt.
Religious Jews throughout the world eat matzoth during the eight-day Passover, or Pesach, holiday, The Jewish holiday commemorates the Israelis' exodus from Egypt some 3,500 years ago and their ancestors' plight by refraining from eating leavened food. Passover begins March 25 and ends on the evening of April 2.
Israeli police stopped far-right member of parliament Moshe Feiglin from entering the flashpoint holy site in Jerusalem fearing a violent response from Muslims at the site.
