Top Clinton aide Huma Abedin announced a separation from her husband, former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner, after his latest sexting scandal on August 29, 2016.
“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband,” Abedin said in a statement. “Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life.”

Born to two professors in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Abedin (pictured rear) moved with her Indian father and Pakistani-born mother to Saudi Arabia when she was two, then returned to the United States to attend George Washington University. She was hired as an intern in the Clinton White House, working with first lady Hillary Clinton and rose to prominence, becoming the Deputy Chief of Staff to the U.S. Secretary of State when Clinton was at the State Department.

The Washington Post broke what it called “one of the worst-kept secrets in Washington”: the romance of Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., and Clinton aide Abedin, after Weiner was spotted visiting Puerto Rico with Clinton’s entourage. The main reason for the trip? “It’s largely because I’m dating Huma,” he told the Associated Press.
