How to set up Apple Pay
Apple's new mobile payment system, Apple Pay, made its debut on Monday, Oct. 20. Apple Pay is accepted at more than 220,000 retailers across the U.S. including Whole Foods, McDonald's, Walgreens, Panera Bread, Subway and other major chains.

Apple Pay is available for the latest generation of Apple devices: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus; iPad Air 2; iPad Mini 3; and the forthcoming Apple Watch.
Before you can use Apple Pay, you need to update your mobile operating system to iOS 8.1.

The update for iOS 8.1 is free to download.

Once you've updated to iOS 8.1, tap the Passbook icon on your device to enter your credit card data.

Passbook can hold digital tickets, coupons and payment information. Tap where it says "Set up Apple Pay" to enter your data.

Apple Pay can be used with the same card you have on file for your iTunes account, or enter a different credit or debit card.

Enter your credit or debit card number into the system. For security, Apple says your card numbers are not shared with retailers when you make a purchase; a one-time code is generated instead.
