The drive-up window after the May 4, 2007, tornado. The back third of the building was destroyed and the roof was totally gone. The vault remained unharmed, records were saved and customers were able to access their safe deposit boxes on Monday morning after the storm.
The Monday morning after the tornado, the bank reopened to customers "al fresco." "It was important for people to have money -- many were left with nothing but the clothes on their back," Dea Corns of Greensburg State Bank told The Early Show.
Later in the day on Monday, May 7, 2007, tents went up for shade. "We were very busy, folks needed banking services immediately and we were glad to be there," Corns said.
A look at the new drive-up construction. "It's been a very busy year. Rebuilding has been a big challenge for us," Corns said. "We hope to be in the new bank on the very same foot-print by July 2008."
