Grammy snubs: 9 musical acts that never won
Despite being nominated over a dozen times, the rapper has never taken home a Grammy. His luck could change this year; "Reincarnated" is in the running for best reggae album.
Guns N' Roses
Nominations: 3While the public was hungry for Guns N' Roses' hit album "Appetite for Destruction" (the band has the platinum plaques and royalty checks to prove it), the Grammy committee had apparently had it's fill.
Tupac Shakur
Nominations: 6In a case of too little too late, the influential rapper's song ''Changes'' got a nod for Best Rap Solo Performance a full four years after his untimely passing.
The Grateful Dead
Nominations: 1The nomination for best album notes hardly counts as a true nomination. And while the band was arguably best when seen live, you would think a band with their following would at least have received one gramophone statue.
Diana Ross
Nominations: 12Despite being nominated a dozen times, the "Aint No Mountain High Enough" singer never won -- either as a solo act or in the group The Supremes -- making the snub all the more outlandish.
The Who
Nominations: 2The Who won a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2001, but for a group of its stature, the Whoe really should have been recognized before that. The two nods they did receive (but didn't win for) were best long-form music video in 1991 and best album package in 1975, which seems a slight to say the least.
Bob Marley
Nominations: 1Marley's only Grammy nomination came in 2002, more than two decades after his death for best Long Form Music Video. Though the main reason the music legend most likely did not win prior, was that a reggae category wasn't added until 1985.
Katy Perry
Nominations: 10The most current artist to make this list has plenty more time to win some gold, at this point. Prior to 2014, she was nominated 8 times without a win.
She has an opportunity to change that streak this year. Perry is in the running for best pop solo performance and song of the year for "Roar."
Queen
Nominations: 3Queen was nominated for a few Grammys, but never managed to pick up one. A consolation? In 2008, the band entered the Grammy Hall of Fame, 17 years after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury.
