Formerly conjoined Sabuco twins: How are they now?
Angelica (left) and Angelina Sabuco were born conjoined at the chest and abdomen (pictured here). At age two, on Nov. 1, 2011, the twins underwent separation surgery at Stanford University's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif.
The operation was successful, and two weeks later, the girls headed back home. How are they doing now? According to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, the girls are thriving since their separation. The girls are now running around, making new friends, and looking forward to a third birthday party in August.
Although they are separated, the sisters are still close.

Surgeon Gary Hartman performs surgery on the twins on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. Hartman, who has done five separation procedures, said he expected the operation to go well.

Angelina (left) held by her mother, and Angelica held by her aunt, Marita Sabuco, on Nov. 14, 2011 - a few days before they are scheduled to go home, after their successful operation.
Sabuco holds her daughter Angelina next to surgeon Hartman. The girls are functioning normally, but Hartman will continue seeing them for weekly outpatient therapy.
"We're so excited now to go home and see them sitting in their own car seats," Sabuco said. "We cannot wait to see them playing, walking and running."
Angelica reunites with other family members after the surgery.
The girls now sleep in separate beds and are learning how to walk again. When they were joined at the chest, they learned to walk moving sideways - now they have to learn to move forward and backward.
