Prosecutors charged 12 former Florida A&M University band members with manslaughter in the 2011 hazing death of 26-year-old drum major Robert Champion, pictured.
Champion died in Orlando, Fla. on November 19, 2011 after he collapsed following what prosecutors say was a savage beating during a hazing ritual. It happened on a bus parked in a hotel parking lot after Florida A&M played Bethune-Cookman in their annual rivalry football game.
Authorities say Champion had bruises on his chest, arms, shoulder and back and died of internal bleeding.

Harris and two other students were involved in hazing Bria Shante Hunter for the "Red Dawg Order", a band clique for students from Georgia.
Harris was charged with hazing.
Bria Shante Hunter told police that days after the beating, the pain became unbearable, so she went to the hospital. It was discovered that her thigh bone was broken and that she had blood clots in her legs.

Hobson was charged with hazing and battery and sentenced in May 2012 to 30 days in the Leon County Work Camp followed by 12 months of probation.

Golson was charged with hazing and battery and was sentenced in May 2012 to 30 days in the Leon County Work Camp followed by 12 months of probation.
Golson also is one of 11 former band members charged with felony hazing in the Nov. 19 death of drum major Robert Champion in Orlando.
He is currently awaiting sentencing in the case of Richard Champion's death.

Ammons said in his statement that the university is committed to breaking a conspiracy of silence that has for decades shrouded hazing practices at the school that finally resulted in a band member's death.
Student government leaders at FAMU asked students to join them in pledging to end hazing at the school.
