The traditional opening of the River Tay salmon season takes place in the middle of January each year. It has been staged at Kenmore since 1947. Fishermen from all over Scotland gather in front of the Kenmore Hotel before heading to the river Tay.
Many consider the river Tay and its tributaries some of the best salmon fishing in Europe, making it a destination for anglers from around the world.

Salmon fishing on the river Tay and its tributaries is known as some of the best salmon fishing in all of Europe. This year new rules go into effect dictating that anglers must release any salmon caught before April 1 back to the river.
