Fire Threating a Nuclear Plant

With thick smoke and ash raining down on the community, those who have remained are wearing protective masks. The town is now virtually under the control of the National Guard.

Already Ravaged

A smoke-filled canyon on the western edge of Los Alamos has yet to recover from the last fire that swept through the area.

Protecting the Plant

Additional firefighting resources are being directed toward the Las Conchas fire burning along the fringes of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. 800 firefighters have already been dispatched to the blaze.

Smoky Winds

Winds are kicking up smoke and flames on the massive 61,000 acre fire burning on the fringes of the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
